Yay :)

Hi everyone!!.... again
This is like my 3rd blog post of the week, but whatever. :) So, the debate tournament is done, it's almost vacation time, and we have one week of school left. yay! which is pretty much the point of this blog. :D So, the debate tournament was awesome-tistic (if that's even a word). I actually had some fun, I don't know why exactly, but I kinda got used to public speaking after all of the constructives and rebuttals. At first, I was nervous (obviously, if u read my last two blogs), but once my first speech was over, I felt a little more confident. I also found out that it wasn't all that bad and I was able to make it through the whole day without breaking down. Sooo, Thank you Kay for giving me an awesome experience. :) And... It's almost Christmas/ vacation time! Yay! I can't wait till Christmas! I actually did most of my Christmas shopping today, and i wrapped all of the presents. So, if you see me with a huge bag on Thursday, it's probably because I'm getting ready for Christmas. I also found out today that I get to see my relatives on Christmas. So, that's pretty awesome. :D Well, I g2g. School tomorrow. ttyl!

Oh...

Whoa... the debate tournament is tomorrow. Why does time always have to go soo fast??? Anywayz, Good luck to everyone! and to me, too.. I'm feeling more nervousness by the second now. I'm totally cool and all with doing it, but I'm worried about making a mistake and not winning any debate cases. Well, I know I'll make some mistakes, but if it's HUGE then I'll just..... like... ehhh.... I'll feel horrible. :( I think I just repeated the worryness in this blog from the last one. heheh, my bad. Anywayz, good luck, good luck, good luck!! We're all going to need it. :) I gotta go now. c u all 2morrow!

Hi :)

The feild trip was kinda fun wasn't it? Well, KINDA. hmmm... I just felt like posting a new blog today. WOW, I'm going to have a really busy week. 2 days down, 3 more days to go. Reminds me of the Haunted House exhibition. I remember when we were so busy on that day. Now it's gonna last a week. :O rawr. Well, it's almost the end of the semester that's probably the reason why and we have a ton of projects due either this week or the next, which I'm really worried about. I'm not sure if I can finish my Graphic Design project in time and it's due in a couple days. I'm also starting to get worried about the Debate tournament coming up. 0.o Things like these really freak me out a little because sometimes I want everything to be ok. I'm sure I'll make a mistake or two, but if it's a HUGE mistake then, I'll be worrying twice as much. I'm positive that I can get through this. I just need to keep on going... Yay me..... Anywayz, I gotta go now. ttyl!

Reading Journal

Heyy...
A couple days ago, I finished the book Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz. This book was really good. It's about a teenage girl finding out she's a vampire along with other people in her school. There's also something out to kill the vampires, which is impossible because in the book, there's nothing that can kill the vampires unless they lose all their blood. The thing is they keep on getting reborn, and the memories from the past live in their blood. You can kind of compare this book to Twilight, but there are a few differences:

  1. There are no werewolves in blue bloods, but they're are shapeshifters.
  2. In Twilight, vampires live forever, but in Blue Bloods, they go through a cycle every time the get reborn. They also have this other choice of staying in the same body forever.
  3. In Blue Bloods, becoming a vampire lives in your blood, whereas in Twilight, you get bitten by a vampire, you turn into a vampire and die.
  4. In Blue Bloods, vampires don't have to hide from the sunlight.

Well, there are also a couple of similarities, too:

  1. Nothing can kill vampires in both books, except for their own kind (and werewolves in Twilight).
  2. Vampires are stunningly beautiful... -cough- Edward Cullen -cough- :D
  3. Both have a group that takes care of everything about the Vampire world.

The book was good as I said, but it left me hanging like the story wasn't completly finished when the book ended. So, I totally recommend this book if you loved reading the Twilght Saga. So, I guess that's it! ttyl!

Hi everyone!
Just a mini quick blog today..... Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! :) Hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving this year! :D
~Denise :)

EDIT!!! ~9 hours later~
Hope everyone is still having an awesome Thanksgiving! I'm currently visiting my relatives, so that's why my blog post above this was short. I was kind of in a hurry. Well, it's been raining a lot lately. I like the rain and all, but I just don't like getting WET. So hopefully, it won't rain that much anymore. Drizzling is ok. ;) My cousins are currently fooling around, which is normal for them, but it's very enjoyable to watch them. I haven't seen them in like FOREVER, so I'll be enjoying the moments and making them last. My other cuzin just poofed to somewhere ekse, which means I'll have to find her. :O Anyways, I guess I'll just join their crazy-ness now. Hehe! talk to ya l8r!
~Denise :)

Another Edit!! ~2 hours later~
P.S. We're actually playing Wii Fit right now..... and it's soo hard!!! grr.... I was playing the soccer game, where you hit the balls with your head. The Panda heads and shoes were always hitting me. :/ lol, it's funny though because... well, isn't it kinda random when suddenly a panda head comes flying at you? It may be funny at first, but once they start to gain speed it's just... rawr!! It's very speedy..... heh hehe.. I'm just waiting for my turn. :)

Hello! :)

Hi people of earth!
We have a one week break! How awesome is that? Soooooo, it's almost time for thanksgiving! yay! A time to finally give thanks. :) I'm going to my cousins house to see some relatives, but before that I have a HUGE pile of homework to do. Well.... it's not that huge, but it looks like alot. Has anyone watched Twilight yet???? I have!!!!! :) It was really good. They missed dome details in the movie, and some of the scenes weren't right, but it was GOOD. I wasn't really expecting it to be really really really execellent, but aren't books always better than the movies? The funny part was..... there were girls screaming during the first time they would see a Cullen for the first time. Also the same for Jacob. 2 of my friends had there hands near their ears when the move started, and it was pretty hilarious. hehe... :) That's pretty much it, I'll update again soon!

Blog Assignment!!! ~Solar Cell Record~

Hello everyone!
I read this news article just about a couple minutes ago about how a new solar cell sets a new record. yay!..... So, researchers today are trying to find new and efficient ways to help us lower down on our uses of fossil fuels. Yes, alternative energy is clean and green, but it isn't much efficient compared to the other resources we are using today. However, researchers and scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (yup, it's a long name isn't it?) have created a new record in solar cell efficiency. The cell converts 40.8% of the light that it collects into energy. So far, this is the highest efficiecy up to date. It kind of surprised me on how it was only 40.8% because I thought that solar cells would convert at least 80%, but I guess I was wrong :P Anyways, I guess that's it... for now! ttyl!

HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, I went to a Jonas Brothers concert last night! and I just had to post a blog on it. :) So, the concert was super-dooper-fantastilistically awesome! The concert was really similar to the Burnin' Up concert I went to a couple months ago. Honor Society and Demi Lovato were guests performances. I've never really listened to Honor Society before, but their music is pretty good. :) I'm actually listening to "See You In The Dark" right now. Demi Lovato was awesome, too. I really love her music. The Jonas Brothers were amazing!!!! :D It was really cool to see them play their music all night. all in all, the concert was really upbeat and fun. I can't wait to see them again. hehe...... :D In the mean time here are a few pics!

Reading Journal!! :)

Hello everyone!
Time goes by fast, doesn't it? It's already the weekend! yay! :) So, I have finished Breaking Dawn! It was a really good book, and I was kinda sad when it was over. :( I was really surprised how the ending went. For example, I never thought the volturri would bring witnesses and how they killed Irina in a split second just because she made a mistake. I was happy for Edward and Bella though, because they will finally live in peace and they'll be together forever. :) Bella's power reminded me of someone else's power. If you watched The Incredibles, then Bella's power is almost like Violet's exept Bella's only blocks out mental stuff. The whole Twilight Saga was really good. I really loved reading it! That pretty much concludes the Twilight part of my blog! After Breaking Dawn, I started reading Kingdom Keepers 2: Disney at Dawn, and if you read my reading journal from a couple weeks ago, I talked about the first book. Kingdom Keepers 2 is about how the DHIs (also known as the Kingdom Keepers) have to save Magic Kingdom again from the evil Overtakers. Already in the first chapter, two things have gone wrong and caused suspicion. One is a gray balloon was seen floating to the sky attached to the window of Cinderella castle. The only thing is that during that night, there's a huge thunderstorm which could lead up to really horrible things. The other thing is a character for a float is missing just before the parade starts. Right now, you might be like "Hmmmm... ok, it's just a character" Well, it's not. The character missing is one of the evilest character Walt Disney has ever created. His name is Chernabog, and you might know him from Fantasia where there, he rests on Bald Mountain. This could be really bad for the Kingdom Keepers because the Overtakers are loose again, and Maleficent is up to no good. Well, I got to go! Cya!

Reading Journal

Hi everyone!
I'm still reading Breaking Dawn, but almost finished. So, I'm on the part when Charlie leaves after seeing Bella for the first time in her Vampire form. So, I saw a really huge diffference in Jacob's and Bella's perspective. One of them is the name chapters. In Jacob's perspective, the chapter names were long while in Bella's perspective, it was only like one or two words long. Also, alot of the talking between the werewolves were always in their minds which annoyed me a little, but I got used to it. Charlie seeing Bella for the first time after she got healed from her so-called "disease" reminded me of a couple times when I visit my relatives. For example, whenever I go visit my relatives I haven't seen in a long time, they're always surprised on how different I look. If you compare that with Charlie and Bella's meeting, it's different because she looks entirely different in just a few months when I look just a little different after about 2 years. So, this week I also read the articles Kay posted on her DP for our Pro/ Con brief argument. I was really surprised on how many cons there were even when wind power can be the solution for reducing global warming. I think that wind power is a great idea, but it has a lot of hazards. For example, wind turbines are killing thousands of birds each year. Well, I gotta go. ttyl!

Hi!

I just felt like posting a new blog today. So.. Hi everyone! Don't you think time goes by so fast? I mean seriuosly, it's almost time for the holidays! I can't believe it's already November. I was thinking yesterday about something I read in a magazine and when I last read it, it was Nov. of last year. I was like "What?! How can I remember that?" Hmm... I must have a really good memory. Anyways... How's everyone? There's SLCs 2day and 2morrow. Mine is 2morrow. Hopefully, mine will go well and your's too! :) hehe.. I gotta go now, but Wait--- Happy Birthday Kevin Jonas!!! Hah, that's very fan girl of me. cya all soon!

I got Breaking Dawn! :) + a little t.y. note!

Yay! I just finished Eclipse yesterday, and was able to get Breaking Dawn at Wal-mart. hehe! :) If your only reading the first 2 books, do not read the rest! I'm only on the part where they just got married, and I can't believe that Bella's parents are cool with her getting married at like the age of 18, but then again, it was part of Edward's deal to get married ASAP. I've also been noticing that Bella always has these dreams about vampires and such. Is it because she's always hanging out with Edward? Hmmm... idk. :) I'm wondering what happened to Jacob. I know he's somewhere in Northern Canada, but what exactly is he doing there? I guess I'll have to read more l8r on... :) It was also weird reading the epilouge of Eclipse because I got used to reading in Bella's perspective, but I guess I'll know what Jacob is thinking. It was also so shocking (I guess in my POV) that Bella is also in love with Jacob. I was like "What?! Wait-- HUH?" lol! I always get into my books alot. Anyways, it was so sweet for Jacob to give her to Edward. That's like a HUGE sacrifice to give away someone you truly love.

Okay, this is my second part of the blog. It's a short thank you to everyone in the Haunted House! I wanna say thanks to my group, you guys did an awesome job! We were able to scare some people, which i have to admit it was pretty fun. :) I also wanna thank Kay, and Ted. Thank you soo much for the oppurtunity to do this and for all the help you gave to us during the last 4 weeks. You guys rock! To everyone else, You did an amazing job! And I guess that's it! ttyl.....

Well anyways, I just wanted to say: Good Luck Everyone! I hope this all goes well! I soo cannot wait to see the other scenes.. It'll be interesting..... :) Well, g2g I'll post again soon. Bye!

I'm in Kay's Class!!!!! :)

Hi everyone! This blog is for another assignment for Humanities class. We read a book called Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now by Maya Angelou. I decided to cretae a "found poem" from the text. So here it goes!!

From the valley of strange humors to the country to no return,
many desperately seek to know all answers.
Some are in dry silence or in a great deal of laughter.
Life is pure adventure, treat it as art,
And remember your own shortcomings.

That's what I came up with! :) It doesn't entirely makes sense, but remember: I just found it. That's why it's called a found poem. hehe! Anyways, I also absolutely loved this quote from the text:
"They are a love of life and ability to take a great pleasure from small offerings, an assurance that the world owes you nothing and that every gift is exactly that, a gift."
That quote is deep. It may take a while to like decode it and truly understand what it means. For me, I think this quote means to always appreciate what you have or what you get because you never know what will happen in the future. Right? Kaa, so I guess I'm done. ttyl!

Reading Journal

Hey everyone!! I was able to get Eclipse last weekend and now I'm about half way through it. hehe! :) For this reading Journal, I decided to do something different. So, I was wondering all day yesterday, how would it feel like if I had a life like Bella's. Her life is like super crazy because she's like having a relationship with a vampire and she's best friends with a werewolf until what happened between her and Jacob. For those of you who read it, you might know what I'm talking about and during that part, I thought Jacob was a total jerk. :[ <----That's my opinion though. Eclipse also acknowledges you with legends and stories of the past, which is like really interesting. :) Anyways, I decided to put myself into Bella's perspective and I ended up writing a poem about what was going on in her life right now. Well, it may not seem like a poem, but it was the easiest way for me to imagine what Bella's life is like. Here it is!

You're always in my mind
But you're not even part of Human kind.
Always protecting me
like there's nothing else left.
Danger stalks me in every corner,
it's always there, but we can't see it.
I wanted immortality,
but it all was too soon.
Then graduation came,
and it all fell into place.
Everyone was in danger,
and it was all because of me.

So, that's how far I've gotten in the book! :) Eclipse is like really getting good..... hehe! Yesterday, I also read an article about a woman getting really upset because her husband "divorced" her in an internet relationship on an game called Maple Story. She got soo angry that she hacked into his account and killed his character. While reading this I was all like "What?!? That's Crazy!" I mean isn't it? It's an internet relationship, you can't trust anyone you meet on here. I don't think anyone should do that anyway 'cause you never know who's on the other end. But watev, I'm always extra careful on the internet. Sooo, I guess that's it 4 this week! cya!

Goodbye to the World

Soooo, in humanities, we were assigned this pretty cool activity where we had to write a goodbye monologue as if we were gonna die. It was really interesting to write it because well.... you don't wanna leave anything out right? Well here's mine!!

Goodbye to Chula Vista, mom, dad and little brother. Goodbye quick weekends and slow weekdays. Goodbye cold nights and sunny days. Goodbye friends and our out-of-hand craziness. :) Goodbye sweet music and the ocean waves. Goodbye cool breeze and misty fogs.To quiet reading times and the moon at night and the stars above. Goodbye home cooked meals and dinner time with the family. Goodbye to traveling and road trips. Goodbye precious trees and plants. Goodbye to slow rides in the evening and rollar coasters at theme parks. To walks in a park and bike rides along the streets. Goodbye to interesting, thick books, and never-ending television. Good bye to the ocean and all the wonders in it. Goodbye to Enlightenment artwork and classical music. Goodbye to my little pets and collections of many. Goodbye to old scrapbooks and the pictures it holds. Good bye to life itself and the memories that I had.

That's it! Hope you like it! You also must've learned a little bit about me. hehe! ttyl!

Reading Journal

WOW.... is all I have to say about these Twilight books. They're amazing! :) I'm on the last chapter of New Moon and I am SO looking forward to reading the next one. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten Eclipse yet, so.... off to Target!!! lol :) just kidding. I'll probably get one this weekend. New Moon was just as good as the first one. Some parts were intense and kept me reading for more. I seriously could not put this book down. I also thought that alot of parts in this book were so unexpected like Laurent being killed and Edward thinking that Bella died. There were also some parts in New Moon that are mostly about Bella's thoughts, which was interesting because sometimes you wonder what's going on in Edward's or Jacob's thoughts.I also noticed the style Stephenie Meyer writes in. It's kinda different than most authors. I noticed that the climax is not until like you 3/4 done with the book. I'm not really sure if I prefer it near the end or at the middle. I've read a ton of books, but I think it creates more suspense if it's near the end. Well.... I guess that's it! It's not like my usual reading journals where I have like connections during the book. This was just my response to New Moon. I'll probably do it once in a while. I gotta go! cya!

Picture Vocab Blog

So, it's time to post some pictures for my Humanities homework using some vocab words from the book/ play we're reading called Our Town. Some of the vocabulary was like okay i know this, but some were like Whoa, what? So anyways, here's some pix relating to the vocab. I'll also put a sentence next to it because I'm not sure if I have to.
This is a sentinel who stands guard at multiple places.

This puppy looks like it's in despair. Aww... :(

This picture has many epitaphs holding memories of the dead.

Hope you enjoyed my picture, Ms. Kay!

Reading Journal

Hi everyone! So, I finished Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and I'm now reading New Moon. And OMG, these books are so good. All I want to do is read them. :) I'll start with Twilight. I don't reall have much connections in this book, but I guess I'll post most of them. In the beginning of the book, Bella decided to move to Forks, Washington in the beginning of a new semester. I was kinda like that. When I was about 7, I moved from Chico (it's in Northern CA) to San Diego in the middle of the first semester. Another connection I had with the book was whenever Bella would email her mom since she was in a different state. Whenever my dad goes on Deployment or Underway, We email each other all the time since that's the only way we can communicate with each other. For those of you who don't know, deployment and underway are Navy terms. Deployment means going away for about a couple months and underway is when the navy ships go away for a couple days or weeks. :) In one of the chapters, there was a time when Bella almost fainted because in her Science class they were checking their blood type. Something similar can happen to me. I don't like seeing the sight of blood. For me, I feel like.... weak, I guess you can say when I see it. :/ So, I don't wat to go any farther than that since a lot of people want to read it. Hmmmm... what else did I read this week? Well, I read the packet Kay gave us for Humanities about Death in Russia. Their funerals are really simple. I guess that's all I can think of right now. Sorry if it's shorter than usual. I'm kinda in a hurry because I have to go to the Invisible Children Art Auction. Ttyl!

Yes! The weekend!

Yay! It's time for another weekend! I've been sooooo busy for the last couple days. From College Visit Day (which I have admit was pretty fun excluding the tiring part) to all of my projects in every subject. I was able to have a little fun though. Well, whenever I had free time I would read, but I consider it fun. haha, I'm such a nerd...... Just kidding!! I was able to get all my work done on time. I can finally rest over the weekend. Well, not really. I have some stuff going on too. Well... I guess that's it! Just wanted to post a quick update. :)

Reading Journal #6

I'm currently reading Twilight right now, but I think I'll do this reading journal on Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson. Ridley Pearson is actually the co-author of Peter and the Starcatchers. He usually writes suspense thrillers, but I don't think this book wasn't that scary. This book is about 5 teens who are DHIs (Disney Host Interactive) in the Magic Kingdom (part of Disney World) trying to stop the evil Overtakers from taking over the whole park and possibly the world. The Overtakers are the animatronics from various rides amoung the park such as Pirates of the Caribbean, It's a Small World, and Thunder Mountain Railroad. One thing I can totally relate to is Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK). VMK is a multiplayer online game, and of course, it's Disney. The kids used it to contact each other because they didn't have cell phones. I can relate to it because I actually played that online game for a long long time. That's where my friends and I used to meet up just like Finn, the main character, and his friends. :( Unfortunately, the game closed down after being open for almost 3 years. What's cool about this book is I can really imagine what's happening in my mind. As you guys may have known, I'm a total Disney girl. So, while reading this book, I could really see where thay are, what's happening, and what Magic Kingdom looks like. I recommend this book to Disney lovers and people who like suspense novels. :) I liked this book alot and i can't wait to read Kingdom Keepers 2: Disney at Dawn. :D Since I want to write just a little more, I guess I can talk about lyrics again. hehe! Well this week, I read the lyrics of "Hold On" by the Jonas Brothers. This song is about just staying strong while life is getting or is hard. This song helped me alot throughout many times in the past year, but mostly when I had to evacuate during the wild fires last year. I absolutely love this song, and it still helps me when I'm sad or when I'm having a bad day. Well, I guess that's it!
~Denise :)
P.S. Like last time, I'm gonna post the lyrics of "Hold On." :)
We don’t have time left to regret(hold on)
It will take more than common sense(hold on)
So stop your wondering take a stand(hold on)
Theres more to life than just to live(hold on)

Cause an empty room can be so loud
Its too many tears to drown them out
So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

One single smile a helping hand(hold on)
Its not that hard to be a friend(hold on)
So don’t give up stand 'til the end(hold on)
Theres more to life than just to live(hold on)

Cause an empty room can be so loud
Its too many tears to drown them out
So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

When you love someone
And they break your heart
don’t give up on love
Have faith, restart
Just hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

When it falls apart and your feeling lost
All your hope is gone
Don’t forget to hold on, hold on

Cause an empty room can be so loud
Its too many tears to drown them out
So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
When you love someone and they break your heart
Don’t give up on love
Have faith, restart
Just hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Cause an empty room can be so loud
Its too many tears to drown them out
So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
When you love someone and they break your heart
Dn’t give up on love
Have faith, restart
Just hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Board Games Make Me Bored.....

lol! That's partly true. I like to play Chess and umm... some others I can't name. I just thought of that randomly because I'm bored (pretty much) and the song I'm listening to reminded me of it. And yes, it is a Jonas Brothers song called "Games." I just got done doing some research on our life and death project. My group and I decided to do it on Russia. I've always wanted to go there since I was little. And now I don't remember why. :D Anyways, today was an interesting day. We had our first community meeting EVER and it was cool. The fashion show was hilarious! Well, some parts of it were. hehe! :) And there was also these two ladies who visited today talking about the blue ribbons that said "Who I Am Makes A Difference" They were motivating us to follow our dreams and never give up. There are amazing people out there and they night not even know it. Hearing a bunch of other peoples' stories today kind of remided me of my own, and moving to HTHCV made me feel so much better than I ever was before. It was like a new chapter in the story in my life and I want to thank every single person that I met along the way, especially my friends (you know who you are ), my awesome teachers, Kay, Ted and Mr. Y (you guys rock!), and my family who's been with me ever since the story of my life began. Thank you guys soooo much! I don't know where I would even be right now without you!

:)

Hi!!!!!!!!! I had a really good day today. :D I decided to post a blog on it cuz I'm bored and happy. Hehe! So, my happy day started off in Graphic Design when I was able to work Photoshop. yay! That program is soooooo complicated, but i finally was able to make something that's not a squiggly line. lol! And I also found out that I have a higher grade now in Graphic Design. So now I have to maintain my grades to keep it at the same level or even higher. :) Today was also twin day. which was pretty cool cuz we were able to play with water baloons during lunch. lol! that was fun! But the most part why I'm happy 2day is because...... I'm going to a Jonas Brothers concert! YAY! My mom was able to buy tix 4 November 15 and she got me floor seats on section D! I am so excited because for the other concerts that I've been to (all of them are Jonas Brothers, hehe!) I've always sat at the back either on the lawn or terrace, but now I'm so excited! :D Well, I guess that's it 4 now!

Reading Journal #5

So, yesterday night, I finished The City of Ember by Jeanna DuPrau. I thought it was a really good book, and I can't wait until the next one. :D In one of the chapters, the 2 main characters, Lina and Doon, sneak into the pipeworks by stealing the spare key. It was a little similar to a book I read about a month ago called The Day of the Djinn Warrior, the fourth book of the Children of the Lamp series. In that book, they had to sneak into some museums, but instead they used a magical skeleton key that can open up any lock. There was also this part in The City of Ember when Doon had to pack up a couple of things, and he had to decide whether or not his bug drawrings were important or not. It kind of reminded me of what important things I have to pack when we're about to travel somewhere. It especially reminde me of the wild fires last year. They were really close to my house, and deciding which stuff were important to me was hard because you don't want to leave anything behind. I ended up packing my stuff that were special to me. Fortunately, all of my stuff was okay, but going through that experience was tough. Near the end of the book, Lina and Doon, left the city of Ember and had to go through a treacherous journey on the Subterranean River into the darkness. If you've been to Disneyland, do you remember riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride? There journey kind of remided me of the ride, but Doon's and Lina's was a whole different. It only reminded me of the first part of the ride though, when you plunge into the darkness and end up in a cave. Well, that's all I'll talk about from the book because after that, they end up...... never mind. :) I really enjoyed reading this book because it kept me at the edge of my seat and it was really exciting (for me). I recommend this book to people who love adventure and mysteries. Well, I guess I could talk about the lyrics I read this week. I'll only talk about one song I can relate to. It's called Believe in Me by Demi Lovato, and if you read my last blog post you'll know that some new songs are becoming my new favorites and this song is one of them. The song is basically about being yourself and knowing your okay with who you are. I can relate to this song alot and I just love it because it has a really nice message to it. :) Well, I guess that's it!
~Denise :)
P.S. Here's the lyrics to Believe in Me! :D

I'm losing myself
Trying to compete with everyone else
Instead of just being me
I Don't know where to turn
I've been stuck in this routine
I need to change my ways
Instead of always being weak

I don't wanna be afraid
I wanna wake up feeling beautiful today
And know that I'm okay
Cause everyone's perfect in unusual ways
You see, I just wanna believe in me
La la la la La la la la

The mirror can lie
It doesn't show you what's inside
And it, it can tell you you're full of lies
It's amazing what you can hide
Just by putting on a smile

I don't wanna be afraid
I wanna wake up feeling beautiful today
And know that I'm okay
Cause everyone's perfect in unusual ways
You see, I just wanna believe in me

I'm quickly finding out
I'm not about to break down, not today
I guess I always knew
That I had all the strength to make it through

Not gonna be afraid
I'm gonna wake up feeling beautiful today
And know that I'm okay
everyone's perfect in unusual ways
You see now, now I believe in me
Now I believe in me

I don't know if much of you has heard of her, but her voice is amazing! This is one of the songs that will or might become one of my favorites. :D

It's called "The Middle." hehe... I forgot to mention that. Anyways, this week seemed to go by quick. I guess it was becuase we had a 3 day weekend. hmm..... Well, I guess that's it. ttyl!

Reading Journal #4

Hi hi! I'm doing this reading journal about a book I just checked out called The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. I think it's a really good book even though I've only read the first couple chapters. Lol! The City of Ember is really interesting. The whole city of Ember is powered by lights from 9 PM to 6 AM because the sky is dark 24/7. Not as in dark like night time, but pitch black. It kind of reminds me of when I was living in Chico, CA. At night, the streets were so dark and I remember seeing a ton of stars in the sky. I really miss looking at the stars because here in San Diego, you can't really see as much stars as there was in Chico. Anyways, the city lights have been flickering on and off recently. Sometimes, there were also blackouts. I've remembered the many times there were blackouts. It was kind of scary, but only at night. In the city of Ember, the kids there attend school until they are 12 years old. Then at the end of their education, they get assigned a job; but they pick it randomly. It's just picking a peice of paper out of a bag. The city of Ember is also surronded by darkness. Just think of it like being in the middle of nowhere. That's all I know about the book so far. I can't wait until I get to some good chapters though. :) I also want to write about the book I just finished called The Shape of Water by Anne Spollen. It was pretty good, but also kind of weird in my point of view. The main character, Magdalena, keeps on seeing these talking fish in her head right after her mom died. It wasn't like she was going crazy, but i guess she was just lost. Many people may feel lost after a loved one died. :( The book is pretty much about what happens a couple months after her mom just died and her trying to find a good place to stay and move on. Her dad actually moved on pretty quickly and got married less than a year after Magdalena's mom died. For me, that's really fast for someone moving on. I liked this book, but I think it was ok. I kinda recommend this book for people who are into really interesting stories. When I was reading it, I couldn't put the book down once I started reading. So, I guess that's it!

Reading Journal #3

Hey everyone! This week I'm going to do a reading journal on Breaking Through and a book I just finished call Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. I thought it was a really good book. I recommend for music lovers because this book is all about music and how to deal with everything from the past. The main character, Anabelle, is a model, but everything in her life went wrong after ending her friendship wih Sophie and her family trying to get by because of her sister's eating disorder. Then, she meets Owen. People usually fear him when he's at school, but he doesn't really mind. Owen's really music obssessed, but it's not the regular music people listen to like rock, hip hop, rap, and country. He listens to ancient chantings, techno, and even a water faucet dripping. Weird, right? But to him, that kind of music helped him go through some really tough times. He used music to block out the world and not worry about anything. There were some parts in the book that really got to me. One of them was Owen using music to help him through tough times. I also use music to help me if i'm having a really bad day or I'm sad. Throughout the book, Owen always mentions that the quiet is way too loud. I can relate to that. Can you? For example, I was reading this book a couple days ago and it was really really quiet. I couldn't concentrate on the story that much because it was way too quiet (for me). I'm really used to noises or music around me whenever I'm doing something. I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way. :/ There was one part of the book, when Whitney, Anabelle's sister, talks to Owen (because he delivers their pizza) and Owen finds out that Whitney also likes some of he music that Owen listens to. That really got me thinking because music is like a universal language. You can travel anywhere in the world and meet people who like the same music as you. For example, I've been to many places before and met people who also likes the Jonas Brothers. Another example of music being universal is musical notes. Beethoven wrote most of his classical masterpieces in Vienna, Austria and people all over the world can play his pieces, just as long as they know how to read music. I also finished Breaking Through today. I can kinda relate to how Panchito felt when he was about to perform at Junior Scandals. When I was in orchestra, I used to get nervous too becuse there is a ton of people watching. I was really happy for Panchito when he won student body president. His and Paul's campaign kind of reminded me of my brother's recent school election. He ran for treasurer; but unfortunately, he lost. :( I felt sorry for Panchito when he heard that he had mononucleosis. It's pretty sad because he still had to go to school and work even if his whole body is aching. He eventually got better though after praying to God that he'll get better. It's good to know that he had a really strong belief in Jesus. I was so glad to hear that Panchito got a scholarships to attend a good college. Hopefully, I could get some scholarships and get in a good college, too. :D I was also glad to hear that his parents were able to attend Panchito's graduation. It was a really big day for him and it was good to know he was able to spend it with his parents. After that, Panchito was on his way to college in Santa Maria. I really like this book because you can read what it's like of an actual person living back then with all the hardships with immigration and racial discrimination. Well, I guess that's it!

Reading Journal #2

Hi everyone! I just finished Chapter 15 of Breaking Through. I think that the book is going really fast like you read one chapter about Panchito trying to get good grades and then in the next, he's already in his Sophmore year. In one chapter I read, it mentioned the neighborhood bully, Carlos, and it quickly reminded me about a bully that made fun of me alot in 4th grade. The same chapter also had this part where Panchito's dad cut his hair in a way he didn't like. I remember a few years back when my mom brought me to a hair salon, and they cut my hair really short. I also disliked it until my hair grew back again. Panchito soon started High School and I found out he wants to become a teacher. I think it's cool to become a teacher, but his father wouldn't approve because he said "Only rich people become teachers." When he started high school, it kinda reminded me of when I started 7th grade. He had a hard time in his P.E. though because he lost alot of points from suiting up. I also had a hard time in P.E. when I was in middle school because I'm not really into sports. Later on, Panchito was able to get a job from a cleaning company. I was proud of him because he was able to help out his family more, especially during that time because they couldn't pay the rent. He was struggling to keep up on his typing class though, but he was able to buy a type writer from a place he cleans up at. With practice on that type writer, he was able to get a good grade on that class. However, English for Panchito was really difficult. He was able to improve when his teacher helped him out. What improved his grade was writing a book report. He also said that he read the book until 1 AM. He's kinda like me. When I read a book I'm interested in, I can not put the book down. Last night, I read a book called Just Listen (by Sarah Dessen) until past midnight. :) Another thing that I could realate from the book is racial discrimination. When I started in a new elementary school in 5th grade, I actually met my best friend because of discrimination. The friends that her and I were hanging out with discriminated her becasue one of the girls' mom told them not to hang out with her. Anyways, Panchito soon learned how to drive and was accepted in the California Scholarship Federation. When I was in middle school, I was accepted in the California Junior Scholarship Federation for 2 semesters. Panchito also was able to attend a trip to a college. I've never been to a college before, but I hope I can go visit one soon. :) And I guess that's where I left off! I'll post my "Where I'm From" poem later or maybe tomorrow. Ttyl!

"Where I'm From"

Hello! On this blog, I am posting up my "Where I'm From" poem that we did in Humanities on Friday. So, here it is!

I am from computers,
from Apple and complicated wires.
I am from the basketball court in the backyard.
(tall, old; it's tilted to the side)
I am from the Jasmine flower,
the oak tree
that reaches high to the stars.
I'm from reunions and elderly respect,
from Pilar and Roman.
I'm from the unintentionally cutting in conversations
and random snap shot moments. :)

From treat others the way you want to be treated
and always trust the Lord.
I'm from having great faith in God.
I'm from the golden state and the archipelago of 7100 islands,
adobo and pancit.
From the time my parents immigrated to America to live my dad's dreams
and my Grand-aunt's paintings hanging on stranger's walls.
On the shelves in the hallway,
holding memories of the past
that brought smiles to my face.
I am from the memories that last
which will be in my heart for eternity.

I hope you liked it! That's it for now!

Reading Journal #1

Ok, so the title of this blog is pretty self explanatory. This is my 1st reading journal blog! The book I'm reading right now for Humanities is pretty interesting. It's called Breaking Though by Francisco Jimenez. This book is about the main character, Francisco/ Panchito, illegally immigrating to the United States with his family when he was only four years old. Ten years later, the Border Patrol somehow finds out that Panchito and the rest of his family are illegal immigrants. I was guessing at this part, it would've been one of their friends or someone that helped them cross the Mexican border. However, Panchito and his brother, Roberto, were able to get a visa to stay in the U.S. Before this part of the book, I never knew that it would take a long time to get a visa to go the U.S. Unfortunately, only Roberto and Panchito were able to return to the U.S. because their family didn't have enough money to send everyone there. It's really hard to seperate your family like that even if you're in different countries. When Roberto and Panchito returned to the U.S., it was hard at first for them to adjust without their family around. They got useed to it eventually and started listening to Rock n' Roll, so he can understand what the other boys at school were talking about. He also had a prensentation about Elvis which is pretty cool. It reminded me of a time in fifth grade where we had a mini talent show. Then, he started to go to the Vets hall for the dances every Saturday night. I thought it was pretty funny on how Panchito and Robero would be secert dance partners at their house. A couple months later, the whole family reunites. I was really happy at that part because they were finally able to see each other again. It reminded me of the times where my dad had to go on deployment because he was in the Navy. About 6 months later, he would come back and my whole family would be happy. Everything was going well for the entire family until Panchito's dad would have have to work in the feilds more because the plants were dying. I felt sorry for Panchito because he had to miss school to help his dad on the feilds. Panchito's dad soon began to have really bad moods all the time because he would have to work almost 24/7 to save the crops. One saturday night, Panchito and Roberto asked their dad if they can go to one of the dances at the vets. Their father was in a bad mood that day, and wouldn't let Panchito go because he talked to his father in a tone who hasn't used before. At that part, I kinda felt sorry for him because he totally deserves to go to one of the dances, especially after all the work he's done for his family. Then, he graduated from the eight grade and recieved a necklace from his father. His own graduation reminded me of mine. We got in line and finally, Pomp and Circumstance started playing. Whenever I looked out into the audience, I always saw my mom, dad and brother; but for Panchito, it was different because only Roberto came to see him graduate. Well, I guess that's where I left off! If I need to refine it a little more, just tell me Kay!
